Entertainment

Past entertainment has included musical entertainment, children’s storytime and bug catching, guided walking tours of the island, and more.

Please check back for an updated list of activities, programs, and music that will be available on the Island for each day of the event. Below is information from our 2019 event.

Wednesday:

This is our Sponsor Appreciation Day. We take the day to welcome all of our sponsors and supporters with breakfast on the island. The committee has decided to open this day up to the public this year to allow more people to enjoy this event, but please be advised that all of our sponsors will be having breakfast too, and won’t be offering programming that day. You will, of course, still have time to experience and enjoy the island.

Thursday:

The Brockville Museum will be offering guided walks around Refugee Island where you will learn a little bit more about our river history, the islands, and more! Tours will be roughly 15 minutes in length and will start at 8:30am and will depart every half hour. This is a new addition for 2019, and we are excited to have the museum on board this year.

The Brockville Public Library will be sharing stories on a parachute on the island and will also have their popular story-stones and exploratory MAPsacks. Bring your children by for storytime and bug catching before exploring the trail around the island.

As you arrive on the island, you will be greeted with music by The Hoolies: Irish whistles, recorders, guitars, mandolin, and keyboard blend together to produce beautiful celtic airs and lively tunes.
