Entertainment

Past entertainment has included musical entertainment, yoga on the island, children’s storytime, and more.

Please see below for an updated list of activities, programs, and music that will be available on the Island for each day of the event.

Wednesday, June 19, 2019:

This is our Sponsor Appreciation Day. We take the day to welcome all of our sponsors and supporters with breakfast on the island. The committee has decided to open this day up to the public this year to allow more people to enjoy this event, but please be advised that all of our sponsors will be having breakfast too, and won’t be offering programming that day. You will, of course, still have time to experience and enjoy the island.

Members of the Brockville Infantry Company will be on the island to kick off the launch of the event on Wednesday with a short ceremony.

Thursday, June 20, 2019:

The Brockville Museum will be offering guided walks around Refugee Island where you will learn a little bit more about our river history, the islands, and more! Tours will be roughly 15 minutes in length and will start at 8:30am and will depart every half hour. This is a new addition for 2019, and we are excited to have the museum on board this year.

George Fischer, photographer of the 1000 Islands, will be doing a special signing of his new book “The Thousand Islands: Seasons of the St. Lawrence River” right on Refugee Island! Check out beautiful photos of the 1000 Islands, including Brockville and chat with George about your favourite islands. Books are available for $39.95 and can be purchased from the Brockville & 1000 Islands Tourism office. We recommend purchasing your book in advance and bringing it to the island with you.

The Brockville Public Library will be sharing stories on a parachute on the island and will also have their popular story-stones and exploratory MAPsacks. Bring your children by for storytime and bug catching before exploring the trail around the island.
